Cheers to GPS and GPS innovators Dr. Brad Parkinson, James Spilker Jr, Hugo Fruehauf, and Richard Schwartz, recently presented the 2019 QEP for Engineering by HRH The Princess Royal (Princess Anne) in a London ceremony. GPS started as a military project but has subsequently revolutionized society- impacting government, businesses, and individuals.
Dr. Parkinson acknowledged the award as an extraordinary honor to receive and was then quick to pay tribute to the many people who were involved in the innovation. “The nice part is that it’s a recognition for technology that is good for humanity around the world. And it’s humbling because, candidly, the four of us represent another score of engineers, and more, who made critical contributions. Nobody does everything.”
Dr. Parkinson, known as the Father of GPS, is a mentor and former advisor to Satelles founders, Dr. Gregory Gutt, Dr. Michael O’Connor, Dr. David Lawrence, and Dr. Stu Cobb.
